It was great to take a trip up to Kegworth, Derby last week to see one of our most recent projects progressing well in the sun! The project involves the erection of two large warehouse buildings which will provide circa. 20,000m2 of internal floorspace, along with external service yards, roads, parking/loading areas and surface water SuDS facilities.
We worked closely with Red Rock Geotechnical in the early stages of the project, who coordinated various intrusive tests on the sub-base to enable us to establish design parameters for the floor slab, which needed to be designed to accommodate racking loads from the high-bay racking that will be installed by the end user. We also undertook the detailed design of all hardstandings, access roads and drainage on the site, which required some forward-thinking solutions to overcome challenges discovered in the ground during the construction phase.
