Thursday 13th June saw JRC hosting their annual karting event, where architects, surveyors, civil and structural engineers all fight it out to claim top team and prove their driving prowess on the tarmac. 10 teams took to the track to let off some steam in an endurance race at Kartworld Exeter, with 5 people in each kart sharing the 2 hour-long kart race.
After the usual teasing and banter between engineers and architects had ceased, it was time to get in gear and push the pedal to the metal. Fearnley Lott Architects had a flying start taking the initial lead after the first 10 minutes, but it was Baker Estates that had the determination to win through, grabbing a whopping 244 laps in total.
Whilst this was all seriously good fun, a great way to get some team bonding in, and the opportunity to say thank you to some of our fantastic clients, we also wanted to raise some money for a worthwhile local charity. We chose the outstanding Pete’s Dragons, a suicide bereavement charity that supports those in Devon affected by this specific type of loss.
All teams competing provided a generous £150 donation to take part, and we were able to hand over a healthy £1,500 cheque to help Alison and her team continue their invaluable work. If you’d like to find out more about Pete’s Dragon, please go to their website.
A big thank you to all those who attended on the day:
